About ASTICON

The Advanced Science, Technology, and Innovation Convention (ASTICON) returns for its second year, serving as the premier national platform to showcase the Department of Science and Technology – Advanced Science and Technology Institute’s (DOST-ASTI) unwavering commitment to research, innovation, and collaboration. ASTICON 2025 brings together industry leaders, government, academia, and innovators to explore bold ideas and shape impactful, tech-driven solutions for the Philippines.

With the theme “Preparing Tomorrow, Today, this year’s convention highlights the power of proactive collaboration in shaping and building the Philippines’ digital future powered by advancements in ICT, microelectronics, and emerging technologies.

AI-Powered Weather Forecasting for a Resilient Philippines (AI-4RP)

The AI-4RP Project aims to develop and deploy a high-resolution and accurate weather forecasting model for the Philippines using atmospheric science technologies. This project is a collaborative effort between DOST-PAGASA and DOST-ASTI.

iTANONG: A Natural Language Interface to Databases for Filipinos

iTANONG is an AI-powered web application that answers questions in English, Tagalog, or Taglish—drawing from organizational databases and uploaded documents. It breaks down technical barriers by letting users ask questions naturally, without needing SQL or coding skills.

Metbuoy+

The Metbuoy+ Project is enhancing and sustaining DOST-ASTI’s meteorological buoy system for offshore and inland water monitoring. By integrating advanced water quality sensors, improving LoRaWAN communication, and refining software functionalities, the project aims to deliver real-time environmental data to support maritime safety and prevent fish kills.

Robot for Optimized and Autonomous Mission-Enhancement Responses (ROAMER)

The ROAMER Project, under the ASIMOV Program, is developing a mobile robot that supports banana plantations in monitoring and detecting banana plant diseases by using data-driven decision making based on computer vision, sensing, and navigation, to ensure crop health and improving productivity.

Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Initiatives for Road Safety (VIROS-STEER)

The VIROS Project aims to improve road safety by developing a transportable intelligent traffic controller that integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) and V2X for a data-driven traffic control system.

Resilient Education Information Infrastructure for the New Normal (REIINN)

The REIINN Project was established to bridge the digital divide in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). By leveraging innovative approaches to distance learning and connectivity, its two key components, LokalFi and RuralCasting, have significantly improved educational access while expanding their applications to disaster resilience and community information dissemination.

Quantum Innovation Laboratory (QIL)

The Quantum Innovation Laboratory is a dedicated research and development group focused on exploring advanced computing paradigms, primarily quantum computing. The lab designs and tests quantum algorithms and workflows aimed at solving complex problems in optimization and data-intensive domains, leveraging quantum resources for scalable, high-performance solutions.

HR Lite

HR Lite is designed to help government agencies streamline and automate their human resource processes, thereby enhancing productivity, efficiency, and transparency in the workplace.

Electronics Product Development Center (EPDC)

The EPDC is a state-of-the-art facility managed by DOST-A STI that is dedicated to the advancement and innovation of electronic products. It provides a comprehensive suite of services and resources to support the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept to final production.

Information Network for Open and Viable Applications and Technology Exchange (InNOVATE)

InNOVATE enables scientific research and data science activities over a conglomerate of S&T infrastructure components that includes the National Research and Education Network (NREN) called the PREGINET, and a high-performance computing and storage facility called COARE. These S&T infrastructures facilitate technology development, data transfer, and knowledge exchange which empower the public and the local scientific community.

Meteorological Data Acquisition Stations for Information Dissemination (MASID)

MASID is a service established to continue the efforts made by the Philippine government in strengthening the country’s disaster preparedness and mitigation plan, specifically technical assistance, maintenance of the PhilSensors, operations and improvement of software tools, and provision of historical and near real-time data to end-users. Since 2010, MASID has developed a system of hydrometeorological and early warning stations collectively known as PhilSensors. Over 2,000 PhilSensors were strategically deployed nationwide in vulnerable calamity areas, contributing to providing remote data for weather forecasting, flood monitoring, and agrometeorology. The recorded data is publicly accessible through the PhilSensors mobile app and website:http://philsensors.asti.dost.gov.ph.
