[2022 National Women's Month] We Make Change Work for Women: Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran
Do you know that International Women's Day (IWD) originated as a result of women's organizational efforts in the early twentieth century?
Working women in the United States of America participated in strike organizing actions of the National Women's Trade Union League and other concerned organisations between 1909 and 1911. They were protesting low wages, a lack of protective legislation, and the extremely harsh working circumstances to which female employees were exposed at the time.
In Europe, Clara Zetkin and the Socialist Women's International demanded that March 8th be designated as International Women's Day, a day set aside each year to honor working women worldwide!
In the Philippines, the Women's Month Celebration has since functioned as a venue to showcase women's successes and address ongoing and developing women's empowerment and gender equality topics and concerns, difficulties, and commitments.
The 2022 National Women's Month Celebration (NWMC) aims to showcase achievements for women and girls, analyze measures toward gender equality, and anticipate initiatives that must be made to ensure development in women's empowerment.
