POSITION TITLE : Science Research Specialist II


DIVISION: Computer Software Division
Education : Bachelor’s Degree of any IT related course such as Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.
Experience : At least one (1) year of relevant experience
Training : At least four (4) hours of relevant training
Eligibility : None required
Other Requirements :
  • Understanding of the generic Software Development Lifecycle stages and the processes under each stage
  • Applied knowledge about data management systems such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • Applied knowledge about software server systems such as Nginx, Apache Web Server and Apache Tomcat
  • Applied knowledge of setting up and configuring server hardware for testing, staging and production environment of web applications, continuous integration, and continuous deployment technologies such as Jenkins is a plus
  • Applied knowledge of basic computer networking, computer security, and containerization technologies such as Docker, and using Bash scripting language on Linux flavors such as Ubuntu or Debian would be an advantage
  • Must be able to work well with a team, communicate well with the group, adaptable to circumstances, self-motivated, teachable and fast learner
  • Can work with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to work in Quezon City
Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision and direction, HE/SHE shall perform the following:

  • Setup and configure server hardware for testing, staging and production environment of web applications;
  • Setup and configure the continuous integration and continuous deployment software systems;
  • Implement software integration and deployment workflows using CI/CD software technologies such as Jenkins;
  • Manage code versioning system for the team such as Gitlab;
  • Deploy versions of the software using Docker technologies;
  • Provide timely support to the rest of the team during and after software development period;
  • Monitor the software system’s performance during user acceptance and system testing activities;
  • Ensure computer and network security for the project team;
  • Implement defined institution policies for the use of the computers and network;
  • Implement security policies for regarding the use of computers and computer network;
  • Produce defined documentation such as system administration manual, network layout documentation, and system architecture documentation
  • Conduct training for system administrators on how to administer the software system;
  • Handle minor task tickets which may be specific to software tester, system administrator, or business analyst;
  • Proactively collaborate with other team members in delivering software requirements;
  • Report to work on time.
