National Archives of the Philippines conducts training on Basic Records Disposition Administration for DOST-ASTI staff

30 October 2020 – In order to continuously improve its records management, the members of the DOST-Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) Records Management Committee (RMC), records/document custodians, and project personnel took an online training on Basic Records Disposition Administration from 27-30 October 2020. This is a breakthrough training organized by the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) for the first time.

As the disposition of records being an important aspect of records management, it is essential that the DOST-ASTI staff dealing with the agency’s records enhance their knowledge on the subject matter. This involves having a correct attitude towards a systematic and economical disposition or preservation of records in the agency and having a technical know-how on the effective and efficient performance of their duties and responsibilities as individual’s dealing with the safekeeping of records.

Through the help of technical personnel from NAP who served as trainers for the online activity, Mr. Terence Michael A. Tablizo and Ms Ehxia A. Dondonilla were able to provide the expected knowledge and skills needed to learn by the participants. These includes (but are not limited to) lectures on important provisions of Republic Act 9470 or workshops and practical exercises on proper filling-up of forms, inventory and disposal of records, basic preservation techniques for records and archives.
