Tandem Station, designed by Engr. Gerwin P. Guba, is a solar-powered weather monitoring device that combines an Automated Rain Gauge (ARG) station and a Water Level Monitoring Station (WLMS). It is a stand-alone system composed of precipitation and ultrasonic sensors that can gather and record rainfall parameters and water levels at the same time.

Likewise, data from the station can applied to analyze potential danger due to heavy rain and critical water levels in flood-prone communities. It complements the government’s capability to observe, collect, and transmit environmental data, forecast accurate weather data, and mitigate disasters. Hence, assisting government personnel in their early evacuation responses and avoiding potential disaster.

Tandem Station is now commercially available under the DOST-ASTI’s trademark. To date, there are 179 stations deployed nationwide, particularly in North Luzon and Central Visayas.
