DOST-ASTI 30th Anniversary Conferences, Stakeholders’ Forum, and Recognition Ceremony

The Department of Science and Technology- Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) will celebrate its 30th Anniversary from 01-08 December 2017 at the University of the Philippines (UP) Meralco Innovation Hall, UP-EEEI, UP Diliman, Quezon City and at Novotel Manila Araneta Center, General Aguinaldo Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City, with the theme “TREINTA - Tatlong Dekadang Masulong na Pananaliksik sa Agham at Teknolohiya.” The event will feature technical talks, meetings, launching activity and stakeholder's forum on wireless network, remote sensing technologies, internet connectivity for research and education, high performance computing and Philippines’ microsatellite project.

Turnover Ceremony of Hydrometeorological Stations

The event will serve as a platform for DOST-ASTI to officially turnover our hydrometeorological sensors under the concluded (1) Development of Hybrid Weather Monitoring System and Production of Weather and Rain Automated Stations Project and (2) Distribution of Hydrometeorological Devices in Hard-hit Areas in the Philippines Project to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA). it will also feature the accomplishments of the Deployment of Warning Systems in Disaster-Prone Areas (DEWS) Project from 2015 to 2017 and acknowledge the agencies that supported the said projects.

Philippine Launch of Asi@Connect Network

The conference is one of DOST-ASTI's unwavering efforts in forwarding the country's engagement in the international community of research and education networks (REN). In recognition of the importance of strengthening international REN collaboration, the conference seeks to promote the achievements, initiatives, and partnership benefits of the Asi@Connect Project, and increase the number of local R&D partnerships through the Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET), the only REN in the Philippines, which interconnects and catalyzes research among academic, government, and research institutions.

3RD CoARE Stakeholders Meeting and Policy Forum

The 3RD Stakeholders Meeting and Policy Forum will be an avenue for CoARE to share project updates and accomplishments to all the participants. It will be an opportunity for the stakeholders and users to gather, convey their user experiences, and explore more areas for collaboration in terms of High-Performance Computing and research. The main highlight of the event is the data policy forum which is aimed for the betterment of the CoARE facility which will help promote an intensive alliance between the CoARE team and the stakeholders.

CoARE has been upgrading its facility for the past 3 years and now, the project is excited to announce that its five services are fully operational: HPC, Storage, Science Cloud, Consultancy, and the newest addition to CoARE Project’s services —the Data Catalog.

Philippine Earth Data Resource and Observation Center Stakeholders' Meeting
“Empowering Capabilities on Earth Observation Applications and Technologies”

The event features various remote sensing experts from the team that developed the Philippine Microsatellite, DIWATA-1, and the operations staff of the ASTI Ground Receiving Station.

DOST-ASTI 30th Anniversary Recognition Ceremony

The ceremony will culminate the week-long activities in a dinner celebration on 08 December 2017 with the attendance of DOST and former DOST-ASTI Officials, “alumni” and partners in the industry. The event will highlight the activities of the past 30 years and recognize the contributions of DOST-ASTI personnel – both past and present.
