The DOST Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) is one in observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) from 25 November to 12 December 2022.

Under the theme, "UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines" for 2022 to 2027, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) stated in its circular, memorandum no. 2022-04 that “it aims to highlight the powerful impact of harnessing and consolidating individual efforts towards the goal of having a VAW-free Philippines”. This campaign theme is anchored in the United Nations' UNiTE by 2030 to End VAW Campaign (UNiTE).

Led by the PCW in collaboration with the Inter-Agency Council on Violence Against Women and their Children (IACVAWC), the campaign focuses on the following national legislative mandates:

  • Proclamation 1172, Series of 2006 – Declaring November 25 to December 12 of Every Year as the “18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW)”
  • Republic Act No. 10398 – Declaring November 25 of Every Year as the “National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children”

The year 2022 also marks the 20th anniversary of Filipino support for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Furthermore, while violence against women remains one of the country's pervasive social issues and a serious manifestation of gender inequality, DOST-ASTI should continue to work together on this campaign.
