DOST-ASTI salutes Sec Boy’s contribution to DOST Community

Outgoing Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato dela Peña or “Sec. Boy” accepted the position in 2016 July.
He became an instrument to DOST’s research and development projects that create impact in terms of education and scholarships, technology transfer and innovation, enterprise development, health research, and many more. Certainly not shaken by elevated expectations on how he will expand science and technology (S&T) in the country. Instead, he used his substantial experience in the field to bring “Science For The People.”
Sec. Boy was never new to the department, served as a science and technology staff for many years, and retired as Undersecretary of S&T Services in 2015 before accommodating his appointment as Secretary of the DOST in Duterte’s Administration.
