National Institute of Geological Sciences (UP-NIGS)

To gain greater knowledge and analysis on the natural hazards of the Philippines, the National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) implements has implemented a project entitled, “Investigation and numerical modeling of Philippine tsunamis based on historical, geomorphological, and geological evidence of past earthquakes”. This project aims to generate outputs which will be highly useful for future disaster-risk reduction efforts and will propel advancements in the field of Geosciences. In cooperation with the DOST-ASTI, the UP NIGS utilizes COARE’s resources for their project’s requirements, which include NAMI modeling, JAGURS data simulation, and storage requirements for raw and final outputs.
