Sugar Regulatory Administration
The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) is primarily tasked to formulate policies and conduct research to ensure a consistently sufficient supply of sugarcane for a diversified, sustainable, and competitive industry that improves productivity and profitability of sugarcane farmers and processing industries. One of SRA’s current strategies to fulfill this mandate is to establish an automated system that will contribute to a more timely and scientific sugarcane yield estimates and to monitoring and assessing sugarcane production damages. In collaboration with the DOST-ASTI's COARE, Philippine Earth Data Resource Observation (PEDRO) Center, and the Remote Sensing and Data Science (DATOS) Help Desk Project, the SRA utilizes satellite data generated through the analysis of various multi-temporal satellite images and processes for sugarcane yield estimation and damage assessment.
