National Mapping and Resource Information Authority

The National Mapping and Resource Information (NAMRIA) is the central mapping agency, depository, and distribution facility for natural resources data in the form of maps, charts, texts, and statistics. In fulfilling is mandate, NAMRIA collaborates with the DOST-ASTI in utilizing satellite imageries as its main data source for topographic base mapping and environmental and natural resources mapping and nautical charting. The NAMRIA-DOST-ASTI collaboration also intends to enhance NAMRIA’s existing methodologies on nationwide land cover, coastal resource, large-scale topographic, and bathymetric mapping projects by applying advanced science-based image classification techniques such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN).
