The Department of Science and Technology’s Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) is mandated to undertake research and development (R&D) activities aimed at strengthening and modernizing information and communications technology and microelectronics. Through collaborations with various stakeholders, the DOST-ASTI provides an array of services that contribute to the Institute's mandate to undertake long-term researches to strengthen and modernize the Philippine's science and technology infrastructure; to conduct R&D work in the advanced fields of studies; and to complement the overall endeavor in the scientific field with intensive activities in the computer and information technologies. 

The Computing and Archiving Research Environment (COARE) initiates collaborative research with both the local and international scientific community as it provides high-performance computing and data storage resources and participates in various research partnerships and consortia. These partnerships aim to strengthen scientific cooperation among stakeholders, to contribute to improving the quality of life of Filipino people, and ultimately to promote progress by producing collaborative high-impact research.

Local Collaboration

The DOST-ASTI partners with various local organizations to establish and sustain long-term collaborative research by operating and maintaining the Philippine Research, Education, and Government Information Network (PREGINET) and providing a high-performance computing (HPC) and data storage facility through COARE.
