Abstract

MATLAB is a numerical computing environment and programming language that a large portion of the scientific community uses. It contains extensive libraries for data processing and plotting even without a generic programming functionality. However, research undertaken with MATLAB can be computationally expensive and can be a heavy load to normal local computers, impeding productivity and timeliness. COARE, the government-funded compute and storage facility of the DOST-ASTI, helps reconcile Filipino researchers and their MATLAB computing requirements by offering accessibility to numerous MATLAB toolboxes and larger compute resources through its High-Performance Computing (HPC) service without additional expenses to end users. This work demonstrates the convenience of using MATLAB with HPCs through running a deep learning experiment using the MATLAB integrated with the COARE HPC.
