Research and Capability-building in Autonomous and Unmanned Systems (AUS)

The Research and Capability-building in Autonomous and Unmanned Systems (AUS) project aims to expand the agency's knowledge and capability regarding autonomous/unmanned platforms (e.g. wheeled rovers, underwater and aerial drones) and incorporating technologies such as artificial intelligence into the platforms.
About AUS
The AUS project developed an autonomous mobile robot, or mobot, that disinfects office workspaces. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic which made exposure to ultraviolet-C radiation dangerous to human and other living beings, mobots are more suitable for this task. The Project aims to contribute to autonomous and unmanned systems research in the Philippines through the expansion of DOST-ASTI's knowledge and capability in developing autonomous and unmanned platforms and payloads.
The mobot navigates an office workspace, identifies, and disinfects specific office items. The team designed the mobot using established technologies and techniques such as the Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2), computer vision, artificial intelligence, and Ultraviolet-C (UVC) light.
