AI-Powered Weather Forecasting for a Resilient Philippines (AI-4RP)
A collaborative project between DOST-PAGASA and DOST-ASTI, AI-4RP aims to develop and deploy a high-resolution and accurate weather forecasting model using AI atmospheric science technologies for the Philippines.
Specifically, the project is developing a medium-range AI weather forecasting using deep learning neural networks with forecasts up to 14 days, a horizontal resolution of 2km by 2km, and a temporal resolution of 15 minutes.
Partners and Stakeholders
DOST-Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) serves as the lead implementing agency, with DOST-ASTI as its co-implementing agency. Project activities are monitored and evaluated by DOST-PCIEERD. Ultimately, the primary beneficiaries of this project are the Filipino people, who stand to gain the most significantly from improved weather forecasting capabilities.

Resilient Education Information Infrastructure for the New Normal (REIINN)
Project REIINN was established to bridge the digital divide in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs), particularly during the pandemic. By leveraging innovative approaches to distance learning and connectivity, its two key components—LokalFi and RuralCasting—have significantly improved educational access while expanding their applications to disaster resilience and community information dissemination.
LokalFi serves as a community-based connectivity solution that enables access to locally hosted applications, including educational videos, STEM resources, and interactive learning tools, even without internet connectivity. RuralCasting, on the other hand, functions as an offline digital library and learning management system capable of delivering updated content through ISDB-T digital television technology.

Geospatial Analytics and Technology Solutions (GATES) Program
The GATES Program is one of the eight transformative research and development initiatives of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). It is designed to harness the full potential of the Department’s geospatial data for data-driven decision-making, research, and innovation.
At its core, GATES unifies and harmonizes the vast geospatial data developed by DOST and its attached agencies into a single, integrative, and interoperable platform, making data more accessible, usable, and impactful. By leveraging advanced geospatial analytics and new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and predictive analytics, the program supports DOST’s four strategic goals – human well-being, wealth creation, wealth protection, and sustainability.
GATES Project 2
Establishing the DOST Data Lakehouse and GATES Interface Using Geospatial and AI-Powered Business Intelligence and Predictive Analysis for Strategic and Tactical Data-Driven Decision-Making
Project 2, led by the DOST-Advanced Science and Technology Institute, focuses on building the core infrastructure of the GATES Program: the DOST Data Lakehouse and the GATES interface.
The Data Lakehouse will provide scalable and modular storage and computing power for both structured and unstructured data, while the interface will allow users to easily access, analyze, and visualize geospatial information. It will embed Artificial Intelligence (AI), enabling advanced analytics and geospatial visualizations to deliver actionable insights “at the touch of a button”.
Swift Emergency Response Vehicle Integration System with Smart Traffic and Electronic Enforcer on the Road (sERVis-STEER)
sERVis-STEER addresses a critical challenge faced by Local Government Unit (LGU) Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs): delays caused by traffic congestion during emergencies. These delays can have severe consequences, especially for patients requiring urgent medical care.
The project proposes an ERV management platform that automates operations and improves coordination among ERVs, dispatch, and traffic infrastructure. Its primary goal is to improve response times and expedite patient transport to hospitals, leading to better outcomes and reduced casualties. By leveraging Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology, the system also lays the groundwork for future applications such as intelligent transportation systems and autonomous mass transit solutions nationwide.
Partners and Stakeholders
The project primarily targets emergency response services as its beneficiaries, aiming to enhance its operational capabilities and efficiency. It is funded by the DOST–Central Office and monitored by the DOST–PCIEERD. Additional support is provided by key agencies and offices, including the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and various LGUs, which contribute to the implementation and deployment of project activities.
Assistive Systems Using AI in Healthcare Operations Nationwide (AYUHON) Program
The AYUHON program has officially launched in the Philippines, introducing AI-powered tools to strengthen pediatric healthcare, with a focus on early detection of neurodevelopmental disorders and improved management of childhood tuberculosis.
CHILDMIND Recommendation System
An AI-based recommender system and online platform designed to screen developmental delays and map available interventions nationwide, enabling parents, caregivers, and healthcare workers to identify early indicators of child developmental delays.
Clinical Decision Support System for Healthcare with AI-Driven Response to Improve Tuberculosis in the Young (CHARITY)
CHARITY is an AI-powered clinical decision support system designed to assist clinicians in diagnosing and managing tuberculosis, especially among children in underserved communities. It integrates patient charts, laboratory results, and chest X-rays to provide evidence-based recommendations.

Grid Resilience and Intelligent Data Platform for Automation, Transformation, Control, And Harmonization (GRIDPATCH)
The GRIDPATCH project aims to develop a cost-effective, scalable, and intelligent Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)-based system to improve the resilience, efficiency, and operational capabilities of about 22 remote electric cooperatives in the Philippines. GRIDPATCH responds to needs such as real-time monitoring, high energy losses, disaster vulnerability, and low SCADA adoption by introducing an intelligent SCADA-based platform that enables automated control, reduces outages, and supports field-validated prototype development.
Partners and Stakeholders
The project has identified the Dinagat Electric Cooperative (DIELCO) and Romblon Electric Cooperative (ROMELCO) as pilot sites where GRIDPATCH will be deployed to strengthen grid reliability, reduce outages, and improve operational efficiency in their respective service areas.
GRIDPATCH collaborates with the following organizations and institutions in the development and deployment of its technology:
- Association of Isolated Electric Cooperatives represents and coordinates isolated electric cooperatives for grid modernization and capacity building activities
- National Electrification Administration provides policy, regulatory, and technical guidance for rural electrification programs
- DOST-CARAGA provides regional innovation support
- University of the Philippines Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute contributes academic expertise, system validation, and training for technical personnel and students
