Academia Sinica Grid Computing Centre (ASGC), one of the leading high performance computing and communication centres in Taiwan, provides advanced and progressive grid computing services to scientists from various domains and Asia Pacific countries. ASTI's collaboration with the Academia Sinica Grid Computing Centre (ASGC) of Taiwan started with the EUAsiaGrid Project, of which ASGC and ASTI were both project partners. ASGC, being one of Taiwan's leading high performance computing and communication centres, developed the SPECFEM3D_GLOBE application, a technology used for simulating regional/global seismic wave propagation (this is important for seismologists to get a good picture of areas prone to ground motion). ASTI installed this application on its Liknayan Cluster (the production cluster shared with the Enabling Grids for E-sciencE or EGEE). Jointly, ASTI and ASGC conducted a training-workshop for seismologists from the PHIVOLCS on installing and using the said application.
